Harvey Gonzalez was born in Bogota, Colombia on the 24 of July 1990. From a young age, Harvey Gonzalez found great interest in cooking getting involved, and learning as much as he could from his mother Patricia a great self taught cook. At the age of 15 he moved to city of Miami, USA with the idea of learning a second language.

At the age of 16 he had his first job in a kitchen, as a prep cook in “ La Estancia Argentina” a renowned Argentinean bistro. He was there for 3 years, where he learned many of his basic skills, and most importantly made him realize that being a chef is what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.

At the age of 19 after graduating from high school, Harvey Gonzalez traveled to Hamburg, Germany, where he had a stage with Michelin starred and EMEA’s Corporate Executive chef, Gianfranco Chiarini, at National Starch Food Innovation, in their culinary European headquarters, and also the biggest food research and development company for starch ingredients in the world.

There he experienced a new face of the culinary world, training in food ingredients their chemistry and its applications in the modern food industry.  This life changing experience made Harvey Gonzalez, even more interested and passionate about the culinary world and made him realize the great competitiveness of this ever growing industry, and most importantly gave Harvey a perspective on what being to world class chef really meant.

At the age of 20, after completing his first stage , Harvey Gonzalez moved back to Miami, with a goal in mind , and joined the  “ Le Cordon Bleu Miami “  where he is currently enrolled in the associates degree of culinary arts.

On January 2011 he joined Starwood  company, working as a line cook in “Hollywood Prime” one of the highest ranked  fine dining steak house in the country, in the Westin diplomat  hotel.

Chef Harvey Gonzalez was honored to be invited by the Executive Chef Gianfranco Chiarini, to take part in the preparations, executions and photo-shooting for the final stage of Chef Chiarini’s second book, of the worldwide renowned culinary trilogy.

Chef Harvey Gonzalez will be graduating from Le Cordon Bleu Miami in February of 2012, and for his externship he will have a 1 year stage in Mumbai, India, where he will be working under the leadership of  Michelin starred Chef Gianfranco Chiarini.
